New-build accommodation for students attending Sheffield University  benefited from a major enviro-friendly roofing installation by IPS Rubberfuse.  The company’s Envirodec flat roof system incorporating Rubberfuse single-ply membrane technology was specified for the Derwent Living development because of its technical properties and exceptional green credentials – Rubberfuse is completely recyclable, contains no plasticisers or chlorine and has no volatile content whatever to affect the ozone layer.

The project required a system that could be installed quickly on to a concrete deck.  It also had to offer a versatile flashing element that would both enhance the appearance of the project and be completely compatible with the roof weathering system.

By using sheet laminated metal, IPS Rubberfuse could offer perimeter flashing in many different types and styles – some angled, some curved, some pillars.  The flashing detail was significant and had to be integrated carefully because of its contribution to the project’s overall aesthetic appeal.
